You can download and install LanguageTool on your PC in two different ways depending on your needs.
The first way is the official LanguageTool for Desktop Windows app. It integrates into apps like Outlook and Notepad but requires an internet connection. The second way is the true Standalone Offline Version. It runs locally on your PC using Java. It keeps all your text fully private and offline.
Here is how to get both versions up and running on your computer. The Official Windows Desktop App (Online)
This is the easiest option for most users. It lets you check your grammar across many different programs on your computer.
Download the App: Open the official Microsoft Store App Page on your PC. You can also find it directly on the LanguageTool Windows Page.
Install the App: Click the blue Get or Install button. Windows will download and handle the setup automatically.
Set Up the App: Open the program once it installs. Follow the onboarding guide to give it permissions. You can pin it to your taskbar for quick access. The True Standalone Version (100% Offline)
If you want to run the tool fully offline without sending data to the cloud, use the Java standalone zip file.
