Customizing grid sheets in Snap2IMG allows you to turn a cluttered folder of images into a clean, professional contact sheet with perfectly sized thumbnails, custom layouts, and tailored styling. Whether you need an image index for archiving, sharing, or previewing textures, this portable freeware gives you full control over your layout grids.

Follow this step-by-step guide to configure and build your custom image grid sheets. Step 1: Load Your Source Folder

Before styling your sheet, you must direct the program to your image assets. Open the Snap2IMG application. Click the Source Folder browse button at the top. Select the folder containing the images you want to index.

Check Process all subfolders if you want the tool to automatically generate individual, separate sheets for every sub-directory found within the main folder. Step 2: Configure Layout and Grid Restrictions

Managing the thumbnail layout prevents your contact sheets from stretching too long or becoming unreadable. Locate the Layout section in the settings panel.

Limit Thumbnails per Row: Set a maximum number of columns (e.g., 4 or 5) to ensure proper spacing.

Limit Rows: Define a ceiling for the number of rows per page. If your folder exceeds this limit, Snap2IMG will automatically split the directory into multiple numbered grid sheets. Step 3: Adjust Thumbnail Sizing and Aspect Ratios A uniform thumbnail dimension prevents overlapping layouts. Navigate to the Thumbnail Size options.

Manually enter your preferred Width and Height dimensions in pixels.

Toggle the Adapt height to row content feature. This preserves the composition of mixed portrait and landscape images without cropping them awkwardly. Step 4: Fine-Tune Spacing and Margins

The “breathing room” around your elements changes how professional the sheet looks. Locate the Margins and Spacing fields.

Increase or decrease the Page Margins to change the gap between the grid boundaries and the outer edges of the paper sheet.

Adjust the Thumbnail Spacing (horizontal and vertical gaps) to control how close the images sit next to one another. Step 5: Customize Backgrounds and Stylistic Effects

Give your grid sheets a distinct visual identity using colors, borders, and textures.

Backgrounds: Choose a solid backdrop using the background color picker, or upload a custom image file under the Texture Image option to use a patterned background.

Image Styling: Check the boxes for Drop Shadow to give your thumbnails dimension, or add a solid color Border to distinctly separate frames. You can also apply a global Grayscale effect for an industrial aesthetic. Step 6: Format Text, Headers, and Footers

Your grid sheets can automatically display descriptive labels using dynamic metadata tags. Check the boxes to enable the Header, Footer, or Filenames.

Use custom in the text boxes to automatically pull contextual data like filenames, file sizes, or dimensions.

Click the font settings button for each element to select custom font families, font weights, and text colors. Step 7: Preview and Export the Grid Sheet

Never render blindly; use the processing engine to check your grid before saving it.

Click the Preview button to generate a real-time layout rendering of your choices.

If any rows appear cramped or filenames overlap, return to your spacing settings and tweak the pixel parameters.

Select your preferred export format from the Output Quality menu (PNG for lossless quality, or JPEG for compact file sizes).

Click Create and Save to let the multithreaded render engine build your custom grid sheets. If you want to customize your sheets further, let me know:
